MOREwoods Woodland Planting: The Woodland Trust

We are currently working with Woodland Trust on the MOREwoods scheme, which aims to combat climate change and protect and improve the biodiversity supported by trees, by increasing and improving native woodland in the UK.

The project involves planting UK Grown trees to varied and specific site requirements. Using UK Grown stock helped to reduce carbon emissions from transporting trees and the risk of imported pests and diseases. We planted trees to replicate nature, avoiding obvious straight lines and creating a natural woodland. We have carried out maintenance in Spring 2023 and this will continue into Spring 2024, this involves spot spraying around the trees previously planted.

As the sites were home to an abundance of wildlife, including badger setts and owl roosts, care was taken to safe guard natural habitats whilst works were carried out. Environmental assessments were carried out to lessen the impact and machinery use was avoided where possible.
